Arrived quickly and it will definitely be a life saver when winter finally hits. Its hard to keep animals healthy without fresh water and in the cold months its hard to do because the water freezes solid. This stays just warm enough to keep thier water thawed. The price is good when you consider how much timenand work it saves by not having to empty ice and fill water frequently

We keep a small backyard flock, and hauling out frozen water bowls every morning gets old fast. This heated waterer seems like a practical solution for winter. I especially like that the chickens can drink from an open tray instead of having to learn a nipple system. I'd still check the water daily and keep the tray clean.

The open drinking area is what caught my attention. My hens are used to regular water dishes, so a familiar setup would make switching easier. The little cover over the drinking area is a thoughtful touch, especially when the birds are scratching around in bedding. It looks straightforward to refill, too.
